Org charts

Located in: Organization

Org charts show the relationships of the people, functions, and teams within an organization.

Hierarchical Org Charts

I'm not a huge fan of hierarchical org charts. They present the company in a vertical structure that makes you think of silos. Org charts set up the expectation that Information and Decisions flow up the hierarchy, across, and then down. Instead you want Information to be direct not hierarchical.

Hierarchical org charts are useful to understand who is responsible for someone's expectations and behaviour. With these diagrams, you can tell the layers of the organization.
