Introduction
When you start to write, don't focus on the introduction. Put something quick down to help you get started. Once you're 50-75% done writing, you can rewrite the introduction or delete the first two paragraphs and start from scratch.
The introduction, first paragraph, should be used to "animate" your story. There are Frameworks to write an introduction that can be used to make it more engaging and animated.
Tips
- Writing/Avoid these words to improve your writing
- Avoid/Eliminate adverbs - words ending in -ly (e.g. pretty, really)
- Avoid “I think,” “I believe,” “It seems,”
- Delete "to be" and rewrite (“It has to be a good deal.” ⇒ “It must be a good deal.”)
- Use Active Voice not Passive Voice
- Draft fast. Edit slow.
